Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.

In order to gain clarity and focus about the future, it is essential to be free from the past. Before you turn your attention to your future, let’s first set the record straight about the past. Review the last year to capture events, accomplishments, lessons, and make some judgments about your actions.
You owe it to yourself to be honest with yourself. Should you encounter any difficult or painful memories, I suggest journaling with compassion and curiosity. (I can share a Serenity Journaling process I use but any Expressive Writing exercise will as long as you write with those to lenses) While there’s nothing about the past we can change, often once we understand the message we can see events through a lens that allows us to grow from them. If you have deeper wounds to heal, lean into the group. Others have come before you and can pour into your cup, but stick with it. This process may be uncomfortable if you’ve had a lot of change. Clarity is necessary to take the next steps in your journey.
Download the PDF Worksheet and fill it out to be able to see the past year at a glance.
Look back at each month in the past year and list a few highlights. What significant events happened? Did you accomplish or start something? Did you meet new people? Remember to capture lessons or areas that aren’t as pleasant. Were there periods that were unsustainable, both good or bad, that are worth noting?
