Once you’ve filled in the timeline, it’s time to pull out the highlights. And because we are approaching this exercise with self-compassion, we’re going to honor our areas of growth and lessons learned just as much as our accomplishments. List the top 4-5 accomplishments, the milestones, connections, or habits you’re really proud of. Then list the top 4-5 lessons you learned. Keep in mind that failures only become lessons when we take the learning into the next imperfect action. For each accomplishment, describe the end result, the key driver or action that made the result possible and what opportunities this accomplishment opened up to you. For each lesson, describe the end result, what you would do different next time, and how you will know if you’ve learned and applied this lesson.
